Aurora, IL - May 3 - June 2, 2019
In May 2019 Doug played guitar as a member of the ensemble of "August Rush - The Musical!" This Broadway-produced show did a test run at the Paramount Theater in Aurora, IL (outside Chicago) from May 3 to June 2. It was based on the movie of the same name, with an all new score by Mark Mancina (who wrote the music for the film), and was directed by Tony-Award winning John Doyle! All the music was produced onstage by the 16 member cast.
Doug Smith fans all loved seeing Doug perform in the Hollywood movie August Rush, starring Robin Williams. Doug had some great full-screen shots of his flying fingers in the closing scene of the movie. Now the movie version has been taken to the next level as a Broadway-produced musical. All the musicians are part of the show. If the debute in Chicago is a success, it will then go to Broadway! Don't miss your chance to see Doug perform in this great Musical!

I saw your performance in Aurora, IL and I must say, I was truly impressed! What a great production, powerful music and your part personally was huge. The guitar work was excellent and so well performed. My favorite part was the romance scene between the to lead actors while you played guitar with a cellist! It was such a gorgeous piece of music and so beautifully performed. I’m so glad I got to see the event and hope that it goes to Broadway!!
